Most PPF today includes a self-healing topcoat — fine surface scratches and light swirl marks in the film itself soften and disappear when exposed to heat, whether from direct sunlight or warm water, because the topcoat temporarily reflows at that temperature.

What PPF Can't Do

PPF absorbs a meaningful amount of impact, but it isn't invincible. It doesn't make a car damage-proof, dent-proof, accident-proof, or completely scratch-proof — a hard enough stone strike, a real scrape, or a collision can still mark or cut through the film, and in some cases transfer damage to the paint or panel underneath. It isn't a substitute for careful driving and parking. It also isn't a chemical protectant: for UV resistance, gloss, and easier washing, that's what ceramic or graphene coating adds, which is why the two are frequently installed together rather than as either/or choices.

Our PPF Installation Process

Every installation starts with a surface inspection, since PPF should go on paint that's already in good condition — if there's existing correction, contamination or defects, we point that out and address it first with a decontamination wash and clay bar treatment rather than sealing problems under the film.

From there, the film is precision-cut to each panel's exact shape, fitted, and worked into position before edge tucking and heat setting lock it flush against the paint. The car gets a final inspection before handover to check for lifting edges, trapped debris, or fitment issues.

Avoid washing the car or exposing it to rain for 48–72 hours after installation, while the film fully cures.

Use a pH-neutral shampoo and a microfibre wash mitt, ideally in the shade.

Avoid automatic brush car washes — the brushes can lift film edges over time.

If using a pressure washer, keep the nozzle at least 30 cm from the film's edges.

Remove bird droppings and tree sap promptly; left too long, they can still mark the film surface.

Direct sunlight or a warm water rinse will help trigger the self-healing response on fine surface marks.

Garware's own documentation notes that exact terms can vary by environmental conditions and are confirmed through the local distributor — we'll confirm the specific figure for whichever Garware film fits your car.

Ultraguard PPF — The premium TPU Supreme Shield and TPU Pro Satin films carry a full 10-year warranty. Ultraguard's other lines (clear gloss, matte, colour, and textured finishes) carry shorter warranties that vary by product, spanning roughly 3 to 10 years across the range.

ALP PPF — ALP's film range includes self-healing and UV-resistant technology. Specific warranty terms for ALP films should be confirmed for the selected film at the time of booking.

RODIM PPF (BASF RODIM) — Several grades, including R-STAR, R1, R2, R2 Matt, R2 Black, and R3 Pro. RODIM's own documentation states warranty coverage across the range runs from roughly 5 to 10 years depending on the film chosen; the R1 grade specifically carries a 7-year warranty.
