A repeat customer from Wadakkanchery came in last month with a six-month-old sports bike. He had been bringing his car to us for ceramic coating maintenance, and this time he brought the bike separately. The tank had two visible stone chip marks from the highway, and the fairing on the left side had a faint scratch from a brush against a compound wall in a narrow lane. He asked if we could do for the bike what we had done for his car.
The answer was yes — and the approach is similar in principle but different in execution. Bike PPF at Menora We2 applies the same thermoplastic polyurethane film used for car paint protection, cut and fitted specifically to the contoured panels of a motorcycle. The film absorbs stone chips, minor abrasion, and parking scuffs before they reach the painted surface. For a bike owner who has invested in a premium motorcycle, it is one of the most practical protection decisions available.
What Is Bike PPF?
Paint Protection Film for motorcycles is a clear, self-healing polyurethane film applied directly over the painted panels — typically the fuel tank, front fairing, side fairings, and mudguard. These are the areas that take the most physical damage from road use: stone chips from the front wheel, gravel strikes on highways, and contact marks in tight parking.
The film is optically clear and does not change the colour or finish of the paint underneath. A self-healing topcoat means light surface marks in the film — fine scratches from a cloth wipe or minor brush contact — disappear with heat exposure. The paint beneath remains untouched throughout.
Why Bike Paint Needs Protection in Kerala
Highway Stone Chips
Bikes sit lower to the road than cars and receive stone chip impact directly from the front tyre as well as from vehicles ahead. On the Thrissur–Irinjalakuda highway and the Chalakudy bypass, where road construction debris is common, a single ride can produce multiple chip marks on an unprotected tank or fairing.
Narrow Roads and Parking Scuffs
Getting a bike in and out of tight spaces — compound gates, crowded parking areas near commercial centres in Guruvayoor and Kunnamkulam — means the fairings and tank regularly make brief contact with walls, other vehicles, and gate edges. PPF absorbs this contact and prevents the paint transfer and scuffing that would otherwise accumulate over months of daily use.
Monsoon Road Spray and Chemical Exposure
Monsoon roads spray a mixture of water, laterite mud, and road chemicals across the lower panels and engine area at speed. This mixture is corrosive over time on bare paint. PPF on the lower fairings and tank base reduces the direct exposure of the painted surface to this contamination.
Our Bike PPF Installation Process
Panel Inspection and Surface Preparation
We inspect each panel under our studio lights before installation. Existing chips or scratches that sit under the film will remain visible permanently, so we address any defects by machine polishing before the film goes on. Panels are decontaminated and wiped with IPA prep solution to ensure clean adhesion.
Precision Cutting and Application
Film sections are cut to match your bike's specific panel shapes. Motorcycle panels are more complex in contour than flat car panels — the film needs to be worked carefully around curves and edges without lifting or creasing. We use a slip solution for positioning and squeegee the film into final bond progressively.
Edge Setting and Final Check
Edges are heat-set with a heat gun to lock the adhesive at all curves and panel borders. We inspect every panel under multiple lighting angles before the bike is released
Aftercare
• Do not wash the bike for 48 hours after installation — allow the adhesive to cure fully.
• Use pH-neutral shampoo and a soft cloth. Avoid high-pressure jets aimed directly at film edges.
• Wipe bird droppings and tree sap off promptly — extended contact can mark the film surface.
• Light surface marks in the film will self-heal in direct sunlight or with warm water.
Free Inspection at Our Studio
Pricing depends on the panels covered and your bike's panel geometry. Bring your bike to our Irinjalakuda or Thrissur studio for a free inspection. We will assess the paint condition and give you a clear quote before any work begins.
